Candidate Statement

As your Councilmember, I have a solid record of leadership and action.  I have served as a volunteer, forgoing all compensation and city council salaries, including pension and health benefits.  Additionally, my community service includes volunteering at my children’s school, Winter Nights Shelter for homeless families, Rotary, Walnut Creek Downtown, and the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce.  I serve on several Council committees and external bodies, including:

  • Public Safety
  • Public Education
  • League of California Cities
  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)

Our community faces many challenges that require leaders with a proven track record of success.  I have brought unique insight and innovative solutions to meet our challenges, including:

  • Supporting our business community through the COVID downturn and recovery,
  • Promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for all
  • Ensuring our neighborhoods and families are safe
  • Providing funding for our pools, arts, recreation, open space, and libraries

All of these things enrich Walnut Creek’s quality of life and make it a unique city for all families, including my wife, Melissa, and I with our two daughters.

I earned my BA Degree in Business Administration from California State University, East Bay.  As a results-driven technology executive and small business owner, I have delivered successful results through hard work, innovation, and fiscal management.

I fundamentally believe that government works best when our elected representatives are held accountable.  If you have any questions, please call me at 925-899-2535.  Alternatively visit my website at http://justinwedel.com or email me at justin@justinwedel.com.
